I picked up my wife an iPhone 6 for our anniversary in January. I wasn't dying for a new phone, so I bought one just for her. After all, she was still using an iPhone 4. It's a miracle she still gets a full day of battery life out of it. The thing is a dinosaur. If anyone needed an upgrade, it was her, not me.
Sure, I wanted a new one, but I was thinking about holding out for the 6S in September. I figured by the time I had another $300 bucks burning a hole in my pocket, the iPhone 6S would be right around the corner. I don't want to buy a new one a month or two before the new one comes out. But then again, I'd probably never get the new one the week it comes out. The next thing you know, it'll be October/November. My iPhone 5 is already 2 1/2 years old. I don't think it'll last another year. The battery is already degrading. I always plug my phone in at night before bed so I have a full charge for work in the morning. However, more often than not, my phone is throwing up low battery warnings come lunchtime. Many a time I've had to run out to the car at lunchtime just to grab my Lighting cable so that I can make it through the day. I really can't wait another 6 months.
I figured I'd bite the bullet and buy a new iPhone 6 now while it still feels "new".
The unboxing was the usual affair. Nothing special this time around. I'll continue to use the accessories that came with my iPhone 5 and keep these in the box until I need them.
The pictures don't do it justice. I'm not going to go nuts with photos because there's no shortage of them online. You'll just have to take my word for it that it's a work of art.
It's so much nicer to hold than my iPhone 5. I really like the rounded edges. It also feels a little lighter despite being that much bigger.
I also picked up an Apple-branded silicone case. It has a pretty hefty price tag at $35. Although, it's not like the 3rd party cases are much cheaper. I could probably 3D print a case for 25 cents, but I need one now.
Don't get me wrong, it is a pretty nice case. I like the feel that it has.
It fils like a glove and doesn't add a lot of bulk to the phone. It still feels thinner in my hand than my iPhone 5.
It is amazing how much bigger the iPhone 6 is compared to my iPhone 5. With that said, I can't imagine having an iPhone 6 Plus. That thing is massive. You might as well just stick with an iPad. It's definitely going to take a little getting used to. There's almost certainly things I won't be able to do with one hand like I did with the iPhone 5.
So it's official. I'm all caught up on iPhones. With the exception of the "S" models, I've had every iPhone.
